Dr. Auday Al-Mayyahi has completed his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering at University of Basrah in 2003. Since then, he has successfully completed and managed various industrial projects in including solar energy, 132/33/11KV substations, Power Generation Plants 250MW. Dr. Al-mayyahi has a long-term professional experience in instruments and electrical scope of works. Additionally, he has extensive experience in installation, maintenance and commissioning of electrical systems and water treatment plants.
In 2006, he has completed his M.Sc. degree in Power and Machine. Moreover, in June 2018, he completed his PhD at the University of Sussex in UK. His current research is addressing challenges associated with industrial automation by proposing and developing new methodologies to improve and enhance automation process, particularly, applications of robotics using artificial intelligence.
Auday successfully won a a Fulbright prestigious scholarship for Iraqi scholars program and participated in a 10-week intensive program at
the University of Wyoming in the United States. In this professional program. Dr. Auday has been trained on various academic skills and undertaken various industrial visits for international well-known companies for car manufacturing, Google, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft Headquarters in Silicon Valley in San Francisco, Carolina.
Currently, Dr. Auday holds as a professor assistance position in Electrical Engineering Department at University of Basrah. He has been a module convenor for different modules such as electric circuits, electrical technology, principle of robotics, control systems, soft computing techniques. Also, he supervised power and machine labs for several years and PLC automation.
Moreover, Dr. Auday participated as an associate researcher in Intelligent Modern System Design (i-mosyde) Project funded by European Union. Auday is a senior member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and that includes Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), Internet of Things Community, and Computational Intelligence Society (CIS). He is also a member of the British Machine Vision Association (BMVA).
Furthermore, Dr. Auday recognized as an associate fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) in UK. He has been an associate tutor in Engineering and Design Department at the University of Sussex. As an associate tutor in UK, he has been working in workshops and laboratories in Department of Engineering and Design to teach undergraduate students in different modules.
Dr. Auday also has been an (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) STEM Ambassador in the South East of England and took part in managing and teaching several Headstart engineering summer schools for A-level students. He is a certified trainer by h (MoHESR) in Iraq and also certified trainer by AUF, France. Auday certified several prestigious awards and recognition from Minister of MoHESR in Iraq and President of University of Basrah.
Dr. Auday has successfully delivered many workshops in such on industrial and academia and managed training courses and symposium along with chairing conferences sessions. He has participated in several academic visits for prestigious Universities such as Delft University of Technology in Netherland, Stanford University in USA, Cambridge University in England, Swansea University in Wales, University of Edinburgh in Scotland, Hikvision CCTV and intelligent systems in Hangzhou, China, UUM in Malaysia, Lille University in France, Technical University of Kosice, Slovakia and University of Toronto in Canada.
