Assistant Professor
8 years of experience
I am Dr. Muhammad Ikram, a dedicated professional with a background in Pharmacy, Medicine, and a Ph.D. in Medical Science. Currently an Assistant Professor at COMSATS University Islamabad-Abbottabad Campus, I specialize in 3D Cell culture for T cell development and cancer immunology within the Immune Cell Molecular Pharmacology Research Lab.
My academic journey began with a Pharmacy degree from the University of Malakand in 2009, followed by clinical traineeships in Peshawar, Pakistan. Subsequently, I worked as a dispensing pharmacist with the International Medical Corps (IMC), providing medical care in disaster-affected areas.
I pursued my master's degree at Pusan National University in South Korea, focusing on the modulation of thymic epithelial cell adhesion. Continuing my academic pursuit, I earned a Ph.D. in Medical Science, exploring the co-targeting of Tiam1/Rac1 and Notch to ameliorate chemoresistance in a 3D lymphoma model.
Currently, my research at COMSATS University centers on utilizing 3D cell culture to study T cell development and design matrices for normal and cancerous tissue, organoids, and tumoroids, particularly in understanding brain and hepatic cancer malignancy and metastasis. I address the cellular and molecular mechanisms of anticancer drug resistance in cancer malignancy and their sensitization.
My experience includes being a scholarship recipient in South Korea (2011-2018), honored for my contributions to the field.
