Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Shahezwan Abd Wahab’s expertise lies in geriatric pharmacy, medication safety, pharmacy practice research, and the safe use of herbal and dietary supplements. His work focuses on optimising pharmacotherapy in older adults, particularly in relation to fall-risk-increasing drugs, polypharmacy, dysphagia, medication adherence, and transitions of care. He has extensive experience in developing and evaluating pharmacist-led interventions aimed at improving clinical outcomes and reducing medication-related harm.
He is skilled in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including scale development, psychometric validation, survey design, mixed-methods research, and health services evaluation. His research frequently integrates behavioural science frameworks to understand pharmacists’ practices, patients’ beliefs, and public perceptions in areas such as telepharmacy, pre-travel consultations, and complementary medicine use.
In pharmacy education, his expertise includes curriculum development, clinical pharmacy training, experiential learning design, digital health integration, and research methodology instruction at postgraduate level. He has supervised numerous Master’s and PhD candidates in clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice.
