About

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Shahezwan Abd Wahab is a registered pharmacist, academic and researcher at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, where he serves as Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation). He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons.), Master of Clinical Pharmacy and PhD in Pharmaceutical Care.

His expertise encompasses clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutical care, medication safety, geriatric pharmacotherapy, community pharmacy practice and health services research, with a particular focus on optimising medication use and preventing medication-related harm among older adults.

He leads the Elderly Medication and Safety Research Interest Group, coordinating research initiatives involving polypharmacy, potentially inappropriate medications, fall-risk-increasing drugs, anticholinergic burden, medication adherence and pharmacist-led fall prevention. His research includes hospital-based medication safety assessments, community pharmacy interventions, fall-risk screening and the evaluation of pharmaceutical care services.

He has practical experience in implementing and evaluating structured clinical assessment instruments, including the CDC STEADI fall-risk screening framework, medication risk assessment tools and validated research questionnaires. His work also involves community-based health screening initiatives, including research on point-of-care testing, and the development and evaluation of educational interventions to strengthen medication safety and healthy ageing.

Beyond research, he contributes to academic leadership, postgraduate supervision, professional education and research capacity building. He has experience developing and delivering lectures, workshops, clinical training materials, educational resources and research methodology programmes for pharmacy students, healthcare professionals and researchers.

His contributions to COMSTECH would focus on strengthening clinical pharmacy services, advancing medication safety practices, supporting evidence-based healthcare interventions and building research capacity through specialised training, academic mentorship and international scientific collaboration.
